Faith Ogallo: From KUSF Games to Global Glory
Faith Ogallo’s name echoes across arenas, classrooms, and communities—not just as an Olympian, but as a beacon of resilience, excellence, and service. Her journey began within the vibrant spirit of the Kenya University Sports Federation (KUSF), where she competed in basketball, netball, athletics, tug of war, and taekwondo during the Western Conference Games. It was here, between 2018–2019, that she fully embraced taekwondo, representing Kibabii University at the East Africa University Games in Dodoma and clinching a gold medal.
That victory opened the door to national selection by the Kenya Taekwondo Federation, and soon, Faith was training with Team Kenya. Her ascent was rapid and remarkable: a high-intensity camp in Cairo, a silver medal at the All African Games in Rabat, and qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics—her first international taekwondo appearance.
🎖 Academic and Athletic Excellence
Faith holds a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Kibabii University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Science and Health Promotion from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), and is currently pursuing her Master’s in the same field. Her academic pursuits complement her athletic discipline, making her a holistic role model for student-athletes.
She is also a certified nurse (Alabama Institute), a First Aid graduate (Korean Red Cross), and a Young Olympic Ambassador with a Diploma in Olympic Studies from the International Olympic Academy. Her commitment to integrity in sport is underscored by her IOC/WT certificate in preventing competition manipulation.
Championing Sustainability and Leadership
Faith is a 1st Dan Black Belt Taekwondo professional and a Sustainability Ambassador for World Taekwondo. She was honored with the “Olympian for Life” award by Prince Albert II of Monaco for her environmental conservation efforts and community service. In 2023, she was certified as a Woman Leader in Martial Arts Africa by ICM-UNESCO.
Medal Haul and Coaching Legacy
Faith has represented Kenya in three African Championships (Kigali 2021, Senegal 2022, Ivory Coast 2023), winning bronze in the latter. She’s a two-time bronze medalist at the Fujairah International Tournament and a gold medalist in India. Though she narrowly missed qualifying for the Paris Olympics after training in Miramas, France, her legacy continues through coaching at Kibabii University and in the community.
In 2025, she won gold at the Africa Zone 5 Open Series and is poised to qualify for the 2026 African Championships. Kenya will host the Under-21 World Taekwondo Championships this December, and Faith’s influence is evident—many of the qualified athletes hail from universities.
Honored by the Nation
Faith Ogallo was recently awarded the Head of State Commendation, a testament to her enduring impact on sport, youth empowerment, and national pride.
KUSF celebrates Faith Ogallo—not just for her medals, but for her mentorship, leadership, and unwavering spirit. She is proof that university sports are a launchpad to global excellence.
