Road to Cairo: UOE, Kisii University, and USIU-A Set to Represent Kenya at the 12th FASU Games

The stage is set for continental dominance as Kenya’s top university athletes prepare to fly the national flag high in Egypt. The University of Eldoret (UOE), Kisii University, and United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa) have finalized their preparations to represent the nation at the prestigious 12th Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) Games.

Scheduled to take place from September 8 to 16, 2026, in Cairo, this year’s multi-sport event promises intense competition. The tournament returns with massive scale, featuring 18 sports disciplines that will test the grit, talent, and sportsmanship of Africa’s finest student-athletes.

The Continental Stage Awaits

The 12th FASU Games will bring together over 50 universities from 20 African nations. Cairo University will serve as the primary host for the competitions, with crucial organizational and accommodation support provided by the American University in Cairo and the British University in Cairo.

Under the banner of the Kenya University Sports Federation (KUSF), our local giants are heading into the tournament with high expectations. USIU-Africa, Kisii University, and UOE have a rich history of regional athletic excellence, consistently dominating local KUSF championships to secure their slots on the international roster. From tactical indoor games to high-octane outdoor fixtures, the Kenyan contingent is poised to challenge for top honors.

Eighteen Sports, One Ultimate Goal

This year’s edition features an expanded lineup of 18 sports, ensuring a diverse display of athletic excellence. Competitions will span track and field, basketball, football, tennis, rugby, and martial arts, alongside growing sports like padel and futsal.

Beyond continental glory, the stakes remain incredibly high. Top-performing universities at the FASU Games will position themselves to secure highly coveted qualification slots for the upcoming FISU World University Championships and World Cup events, offering these student-athletes a direct pathway to the global stage.

A Symbol of Youth and Leadership

Organizers in Cairo have already unveiled the official mascot for the games, named “Tut,” which draws inspiration from the historic legacy of Tutankhamun. The mascot embodies vitality, strength, and leadership—qualities that perfectly align with the mission of KUSF to develop youthful character and elite sports talent across Kenyan campuses.
